Work / BleFos / My first business
A school project. A brand of our own.
BleFos began in my final-year business course. We sold blue-light glasses, pitched in Wellington and became finalists in the Young Enterprise Scheme. Then we kept trading.

01 / The first business
Someone had to want to buy it.
The school course got us started. Pitching in Wellington meant explaining the business to people who hadn’t watched us build it. Selling meant giving people a reason to choose our glasses.
We chose products, dealt with suppliers, wrote social copy, tested Facebook ads and handled orders. Alongside that, we were figuring out how BleFos should look and sound.
02 / Making a brand
The glasses needed a life outside the product page.
We gave the frames collection names and photographed people wearing them around the city. Those shoots gave us material for the social posts, from close-ups of the frames to everyday outfits.

Something to share
We put the brand on a hoodie, too.
For a December giveaway, we asked people to share the post to their story and tag BleFos. Tagging friends earned extra entries.
A different way to get the brand into someone’s feed, using something we’d made for the occasion.
The original giveaway ↗03 / After school
The course finished. The business carried on.
We kept trading after school, including through Auckland’s lockdown restrictions. By my first year at university, I was running BleFos on my own alongside my studies.
I eventually chose to wind it down to prioritise other commitments and explore new experiences. It was my first experience of taking a product from an idea to something people could actually buy.
